When I started my career online back in 1998, everyone thought that making money online was a simple matter of just “post it and they will come”. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Yet, millions of people did just that and failed. And, even today, I tell people over and over again, “making money online is MORE than just having a website”. WHY? Because there’s more to making money than putting up a website and just “hoping” that you get visitors and sell something. You MUST know what to do, when to do it and how to do it. That’s why I’ve been successful and profitable online for OVER 10 years. I make money (anywhere from $250-$2,500+), EVERY DAY! You must have a good, positive attitude if you are going to be truly successful online. This is something that I really look at when I am working with people. Let me give you an example. I am a Monitor in our LIVE Business Center. I have talked to literally thousands of people over the years. When someone comes in and I ask them a couple of questions, I can tell immediately what kind of attitude this person has. Are they happy or grouchy, are they serious or playing around, are they a go-getter or lazy and so on. I can also tell who is going to have success and who is going to fail, based on their attitude. What’s your attitude? It makes a difference. Remember, making money online is MORE than just putting up a website and people flocking to it to send you money!! You MUST earn their respect first. SUREFIRE WAY #2 – CHOOSE THE RIGHT BUSINESS (PROGRAM) FOR YOU This is SO important. Get involved with a business or program that you really like. Don’t do it just because you think you’ll make a lot of money. The truth is that if you don’t like the business, no matter how good it is, you won’t make ANY money and you’ll fail and be frustrated and disgusted. For some reason, when people start a business online, they think that working there business 5 minutes a day is going to make them rich. IT WON’T HAPPEN! I’ve seen hundreds of people who are in this boat. They get started, spend a minimum amount of time on their business, then don’t make any money and give up. Personally, I work my business every day, 1-5 hours a day. But, gues what? I’m earning a 6 figure income…working from home! SUREFIRE WAY #4 – PERSISTENCE PAYS OFF Do you have good habits? This is so very important. If you give up right away, most likely, you won’t make money online. You must have a certain amount of perseverance. Do you take no for an answer right away? Do you do a good job at follow up? Being persistent doesn’t mean being pushy. It means that you are thorough and help people to understand what you have and what you are offering. One thing I’ve learned in my 10+ years online is this: Most people who say no, don’t mean no. They mean not now, or I need more infomration, or a variety of things. Don’t take no for an answer UNTIL you are sure that you have done all you could to INFORM them. SUREFIRE WAY #5 – DON’T GET OVERWHELMED While I told you that you MUST have multiple income streams, let me clarify this for you. What I have found is that most people will get involved in 5 to 10 different programs..ALL AT ONCE! Then, guess what? They quit them all and NEVER do any of them. What I recommend is to start with one main program. Then, as you become familiar with that business, you can bring in another business and learn it and so forth. It’s funny to me that people want to come in and make money from 10 different things, but NEVER do what it takes to be successful at even one of the, I will tell you I would rather be successful and profitable from one business then fail at 10. Wouldn’t you agree? SUREFIRE WAY #6 – MOST IMPORTANT – GET STARTED TODAY! The most important thing that you can do when you start a business is to get started IMMEDAITELY. Again, over my 10 years online, I am continually amazed by how many people will purchase a product, sign up for a business or program and then NEVER get started. Over the last decade, the number of companies selling their
products and services on the Web or sharing information online
with their target market has exploded.

It’s no longer frowned upon to conduct your business on the Web,
and huge numbers of people are making a healthy living doing
just that. Others, however, are not. For every great website out
there that grabs its customer’s attention and holds it, there
are hundreds more bad ones that don’t. Despite their best
efforts, many businesses are losing money daily due to the poor
performance of their company website.

Contrary to popular myth, what constitutes a great website is
not just fantastic design, but also the quality of the online
copy that accompanies it. If you pay equal attention to both
sides of this equation, you’ll end up with an amazing site that
drives traffic where you need it most, bringing excellent sales
or driving great interest as a result. But if you ignore the
necessity of simple, effective and clear-cut Web copy, evidence
has shown your site will suffer as a consequence.

In a 2002 Stanford University “Web Credibility” survey of over
4,500 Web users in Europe and the US, findings are unequivocal.
Whilst recognising the benefits of good design, the report also
states:

“Our data suggests that integrity of content has considerable
impact on how people evaluate the credibility of a website.
Study participants gave some of their lowest scores on
credibility to sites that fail to separate advertising from
editorial content, run too many ads on a page, or display ads
through pop-up windows. At the same time, users gave strong
marks to site content that identified its sources and provided
its authors’ credentials.”

Along with effective design and navigation, the report concludes
that: “As for writing style, (websites should) be clear, direct,
and sincere.”

So you have to ask yourself, is the writing on your website
‘clear, direct and sincere’? If not, then you could be losing
sales. Nobody wants a lame duck website that leaves its visitors
confused or disinterested, or worse still, a site that makes
inflated and unrealistic claims. What people want to find on
your site is a credible and well thought out approach to their
requirements, they want answers to the questions that drew them
to your website in the first place – because it’s then that they
are more likely to make a purchase. Hitting just the right tone
to do this is the job of a really good copywriter, and the time
and money you take to get this right with a professional writer
will ultimately be reflected in increased business for you and
your company.
